All of the people on here who are expecting a high definition stream from the JTV Roku channel are expecting too much. It isn't the developer's fault the stream is so grainy and poor. From the Roku forum, the developer, TheEndless: " justin.tv is re-encoding the source streams two three specific bitrates, regardless of the original source stream: ipad = 400 kbps, iphonehigh = 100 kbps, and iphonelow = 25 kbps. All three stream bitrates are not available for every channel, however, so I use the highest available. The Roku displays 1 dot for anything under 500 kbps, which is why you're seeing a discrepancy in video quality with the same visual dot representation. On occassion, you may see a channel that provides 2 or 3 dots. These channels are being broadcast by the user in a Roku native format, so I'm able to display them at their native bitrate. These are few and far between, however." The channel is great for people who want to watch certain programs or shows that don't require high definition to enjoy, private lifecasting channels, original talk shows, and other venues. To the person who posted that he "couldn't understand why anyone would use the channel because it's so poor" - Now you know. |

Manually checked earlier for software updates to the Roku and it downloaded an update for JusitnTV. Happy to report that it seems to be working normally again on my Roku 2 XS. :) |

Anyone else have this problem... I can't get this channel to work at all. My roku is hooked up directly to Verizon fios via the Ethernet cable. If I can't get it to work, it's not worth keeping. Any suggestions, or help would be appreciated. Looks great, really want to get it working! |

Also love this channel but also having troubles recently with it dropping and reloading. There used to be no problems with it and I have a steady, fast connection. No problem streaming anything else. This is my favorite Roku channel; I hope this if fixed soon. :) |

JustinTV is fine. You just have to have higher speed internet than you have if its not working for you. The only annoyance is that channels get taken off air due to legal action from the networks. |

Killed cable and went with Roku XS. We miss the hell out of live NFL. Placed the Justin TV channel on the Roku XS. The live NFL isn't so live and when we watch we get clips, poor quality, and frame freexing. Any ideas? |

Subject: Justin.tv poor Roku quality I was trying to watch a game on Justin.TV via the Roku 2100X (per settings - it's the second generation $99 model). One dot quality sucks. It's like someone smeared vaseline on the camera lens. I pulled the exact same stream up on a Thinkpad and the quality is amazing. Why is it so poor on the Roku? |

Are you kidding me? This is a top rated channel? Youtube has far more content and much more that is worth watching. Are there really a huge number of folks that want to watch someone "editing my wedding videos," or "just taking a walk in the rain."? Stream quality? Might as well try to watch old silent movies on a 1" screen. You'll get better quality than justintv offers. |
