Can movies be streamed from a computer to a Roku? Roku itself can only play a very limited number of file formats. There are a number of third-party channels that allow streaming of videos from a computer to your Roku box. Roksbox and Chaneru are among the most popular ones.
Roku has launched a channel app called Roku USB Media Player that enables you to play/view media (video, music, photos) from a USB drive on your TV via your Roku player. Of course, to use the app, you must have a Roku player model that has a USB port.
