What is a m3u?

M3U is a computer file format for a multimedia playlist. … Although originally designed for audio files, such as MP3, it is commonly used to point media players to audio and video sources, including online sources. (wikipedia)

Are m3u formats legal?
Yes.  A m3u is nothing more than a simple text file.  If your familiar with RSS feeds, same concept.  Nothing special other than format (ie #EXTINF).    Can be simple as a name & a URL link to your content.  Ideal format for the small broadcaster to get their content out to a world-wide viewing audience.
